CRS Symptoms

Chronic Rhinosinusitis (CRS) is an inflammation of the tissue lining the sinuses lasting more than 12 weeks.  Normally, sinuses are filled with air, but when sinuses become blocked and filled with fluid, pathogens (bacteria, viruses and fungi) can grow and cause an infection.  Structural issues such as narrowed drainage anatomy are often associated with CRS.

Affected Sinuses

CRS can affect any of the sinuses – maxillary, ethmoid, frontal and sphenoid.  The majority of cases involve the maxillary and ethmoid sinuses.

Common Symptoms

Facial congestion/fullness • Headaches • Nasal obstruction/blockage • Fatigue • Nasal discharge • Dental Pain •  Fever • Bad breath

Challenging Sinusitis Patients

  • CRS patients who do not need, do not want or cannot have more extensive sinus surgery.

  • Patients whose CRS symptoms persist or return despite maximal medical therapy.
